Despite its name, the Snapper is actually a bream. Its soft pink scales and distinct lump on its head combined with the fish’s incredible popularity for over 100 years means the Snapper has retained its name.
Found from Townsville to Western Australia, in other words, most Australian waters. The Snapper is available all year round especially in South Australia.
The plate sized snapper is a delight to cook with. Whether you cook filleted or steam, roast or BBQ whole, the reaction should be a positive one. Saying this, our personal favourite is roasted whole. The crispy skin peels away easily giving access to the deliciously sweet snapper flesh.
